FarmVille Reward Cards: Everything you need to know

If you're one that routinely purchases lots of premium animals and trees in FarmVille, your incentive to continue doing so has jumped up dramatically via the introduction of the new "Reward Cards" system in the game. Similar to cards you might have for real world stores in your purse or wallet, these Reward Cards are punch cards of sorts, that will keep track of your in-game shopping habits and will reward you accordingly.

In both the case of the Animal Reward Card and the Tree Reward Card (please note that these are separate, so all purchases are tracked separately), you'll need to purchase 10 animals or 10 trees at their regular Farm Cash prices, and will receive a single stamp (or punch) on your card until you've earned 10 in all. Once you've hit that point, you'll receive a free animal or tree (depending on which card type you actually completed), with a value of up to 26 Farm Cash. The way this is displayed in the game, it's unclear whether we'll get to choose our free prize, or if it will be generated for us, but we've reached out to Zynga for clarification on the matter. Stay tuned for more!

FarmVille Flower Garden: Everything you need to know

While we've already brought you a look at the new Single and Full Bloom flower feature in FarmVille, this new way to play has one more major element: a Bloom / Flower Garden. Just as an Orchard stores trees, the Flower Garden will store Flower Blooms (both Single and Full Blooms can be stored). If you store Blooms inside these Flower Gardens, they'll never wither, but can still be "harvested." Of course, you'll need to collect building materials to manually construct a Flower Garden before putting one to good use.

You'll need to collect 10 Flower Ties, 10 Gardening Edging and 10 Trellises to complete the first stage of the Flower Garden, and as you might expect, these items can be earned by asking your friends to send them to you, or by purchasing them with Farm Cash. Once you've finished the first construction phase, you'll have a Flower Garden that can hold 20 different Blooms. If you collect 10 more of each of the three materials, you'll upgrade to Level 2 with a capacity of 30 Blooms. Upgrade once more (using another 30 building ingredients), and you'll reach the maximum capacity of the Flower Garden: 40 Blooms.

Not only can you use the Bloom / Flower Garden for storage, but you can also go inside a specialized menu to look at your flowers in a much larger size. This is similar to many animal storage buildings, in that you'll be able to see all potential flowers that can be stored inside (with ones you don't own being "grayed out," which can serve as a sort of checklist for your collection-making needs.

FarmVille Flower Blooms: Everything you need to know

If you're running out of things to do or grow in FarmVille, a new flower feature might have just given you a chance at new addiction. Flower Bulbs are now available to purchase in the store, and they act similarly to Mystery Tree Seedlings, in that you'll need to collect Flower Food to actually grow them (just as you collect water for trees).

There are two different types of Blooms, with Single Blooms and Full Blooms being available to grow from different Bulbs. Of course, there's the potential for a limitless amount of Bulbs in the game, depending on how many types of flowers the folks at Zynga decide to release.

A Single Bloom is a Bulb that will grow into a single stemmed flower (say, a single Fire Sunflower, for instance). You'll need to wait a few days for them to grow, and can even harvest them for coins once that's done. These flowers will wither on your farms if you don't harvest them within seven days, but luckily, an Unwither Ring will stop this from happening as it applies to these new Flowers. Meanwhile, a Full Bloom is one that has multiple flowers in a larger bunch. Full Blooms will not wither by default, and they also give off double mastery points when you harvest them. That's right, these new Flower Blooms can be mastered (note: Single and Full Blooms go into the same mastery area - that is, there isn't a separate mastery for Full Fire Sunflowers and Single Fire Sunflowers).

Along the way, you'll need to collect Flower Food from your friends to grow your flowers, and can collect random Flower Bulbs from your friends' news posts, just as you collect Mystery Seedlings that your friends share on their walls. Mystery Bulbs are also produced on your own farm as you harvest both Single and Full Blooms, giving you a chance to continue on in the feature even without your friends' help.

As of right now, there are 12 different flowers to purchase in Single and Full Bloom varieties in the store (you'll be given a single Flower Bulb for free when you next enter your game):

  • Pink Boat Orchid
  • Pink Gladiolas
  • Soho Oriental Poppy
  • Tiger Lily
  • Anemone
  • Damask Rose
  • White Daises
  • Orange Tulip
  • Purple Carnation
  • Fire Sunflower
  • Purple Petunias
  • Pink Fireweed

Again, it's possible that dozens of new flower types (or more) could be released into FarmVille in the future, but this, along with the launch of the Bloom Garden should be enough to get you started for now!

FarmVille Jade Money Tree: Double your money in a year

Whether you've ever purchased a Money Tree in FarmVille or not, you're likely familiar with the concept. By investing some real world cash in these virtual trees, you'll be able to double your investment in a year's time, if you're patient and dedicated enough to actually collect everything that's owed to you.

A new money tree has launched alongside the release of the Jade Farms farm, and appropriately enough, this tree is called the "Jade Money Tree." It works the same as others in the feature, but has a base with themed details to set it apart from others you may have already purchased. This Jade Money Tree costs 260 Farm Cash, and you'll be able to collect from it once a week for a full year (52 weeks), earning 10 Farm Cash each time you do so. That means you'll end up with 520 Farm Cash at the end, which is double the amount you originally started with.

You'll have just 12 days to decide whether or not to invest in this Jade Money Tree, but don't worry about losing out on Farm Cash if you wait a few days. Each tree starts on a timer when its purchased, so while your friend(s) may have purchased a tree days or even weeks before you did, you'll still earn 520 Farm Cash. In that example, you'll simply be collecting Farm Cash after these friends' years have expired.

FarmVille: Say goodbye to the Flea Market (and all of those quick coins)

If there's one thing we learned from the recently released Flea Market feature in FarmVille, it's that Zynga isn't quick to fix its games' issues. Many players never met Claire and therefore never had a chance to turn some excess decorations, animals or trees into quick farm coins, and already the feature is being removed entirely from the game.

This announcement comes by way of FarmVille Community Manager Grimwell, via the game's official forums. There, we've learned that Zynga's expectations for the feature apparently didn't match up with the way players responded, and that there were still some issues (the Flea Market not showing up, perhaps?) that needed to be worked out before continuing to support the feature. Here's the full word from the Big Z:

"After listening carefully to everyone's feedback, we've turned off the Flea Market feature, so you'll no longer find Claire visiting your farms. As you know, we've brought this feature out very slowly and we have actively watched how Farmers who have had access to Claire responded, and how the feature worked out in comparison with our expectations.

We're certainly very happy to see that a great number of Farmers are interested in trading! The Flea Market has taught us that we have a good number of things to resolve before we can consider a feature with trading a permanent part of FarmVille. Due to that realization, the Flea Market has been removed from the game.

Thank you for your interest, participation, and feedback on this feature."

As with everything, there's a chance this feature might come back online once things have been tweaked a bit, but I highly doubt it will provide a way for users to earn so many coins so quickly and easily as it did before. Either way, we'll make sure to keep an eye on things and will update you as we learn more about the Flea Market's status on our farms.

FarmVille Subscriptions roll out in beta: Turn your coins into cash

The idea of paid subscriptions in FarmVille is nothing new, as rumors about potential subscription options for the farming game have been thrown around for years. Now, these rumors become reality (well, sort of), as Zynga has rolled out a subscription option in beta to a few lucky farmers.

If you've been invited to participate in the beta, you can click on the "Join" button underneath your Farm Cash total at the top of the screen. This will bring up a menu allowing you a one-time-only free opportunity to turn your farm coins into Farm Cash at a rate of 10,000 coins for 2 Farm Cash. Remember, this free option will only be available to a limited number of players as a way for Zynga to see how responsive players will be (My guess? We'll all be pretty responsive to the free deal).

Once the subscription option launches in full, you'll be able to pay $10 US a month to become a member, will be able to turn more coins into Farm Cash, but at a less advantageous rate. There will be four options (as of this writing) available, offering anywhere from 6 to 9 Farm Cash per transaction, as seen below.

To be clear, you'll be able to claim each prize four times, with the button turning from "Trade" to "Claimed" after you've done so. This will stop you from making unlimited transactions at the 25,000 = 6 Farm Cash rate, which is of course the best. Again, this feature hasn't rolled out to everyone just yet, but it does give us an idea of what to look forward to when the subscription options roll out in full. I wouldn't be surprised if these numbers change between now and then, so keep that in mind as well.

FarmVille Jade Falls: See Without Seeing challenge

Get more FarmVille Jade Falls news at www.examiner.com/tag/farmville
FarmVille players who purchased early access to Jade Falls on Tuesday have another feature to explore today - Master Lu's See Without Seeing.
This is a small feature within Jade Falls that challenges players to complete certain tasks. Your first task is fairly easy, simply help Master Lu get through a maze blindfolded. To do this, all you have to do is ask five friends to help you.
These challenges will be all time-limited, so the sooner you request help (and your friends respond), the sooner you will earn a prize. The prize this time around for helping Master Lu get through the maze is 25 ZP and 1 Small Axe.
You can visit Master Lu at any time to get his words of wisdom and knowledge, but he will only be presenting you with challenges every few days. Of course, you can buy him an energy drink for Farm Cash to speed the process along, but with all the FarmVille quests and lands to explore, you might be better off waiting for him to come to you.

FarmVille Jade Falls: Welcome quest guide

Get more FarmVille news at www.examiner.com/tag/farmville
FarmVille released early access to the new Jade Falls farm to players on Wednesday, and if you've paid for early access, you've got some questing to work on.
As soon as you arrive in Jade Falls, Hiro will greet you with one easy quest to take care of. The super short quest is basically to get you clicking around your farm space and getting to know your new crops and terrain.
You'll be asked to finish crafting 1 Milk Tea, which is already made and ready to go for you in your new Tea House, harvest 5 Sticky Rice crops, which are already planted and ready to harvest, and you will have to plant 8 Sticky Rice. To do this, you'll need to place a few more plots down.
Upon completion of the quest, you will be rewarded with some Jade and ZP. ZP is the new equivalent of XP in Jade Falls, and you'll need a lot of this to advance in the game and unlock new items and crops.

Although this is one quick and easy quest, you will be presented with another set immediately after completing this one. The next set should keep you busy through the rest of the week.

FarmVille Jade Falls: Early access released to players

Take a look at the sixth FarmVille farm space, Jade Falls.
FarmVille released early access to Jade Falls to all players on Tuesday afternoon. Jade Falls is the sixth farm space for players of the virtual farming game, and comes as things are winding down in FarmVille’s Hawaiian Paradise farm space.
Early access is available to players who are willing to pay 45 Farm Cash to enter the farm a week before it’s free to everyone. You certainly don’t have to pay to enter Jade Falls early, but you can get a head start on setting up your new farm space if you do. Free access to the farm should be available to everyone beginning sometime next Monday, June 11.
The new Jade Falls farm space makes farmers start from scratch. You begin at level 1, and the in-game currency is now Jade (as opposed to Farm Coins and Coconuts). Jade is earned by harvesting the new crops, trees and animals in the game.
Upon entering the new space, you will find a partially constructed animal habitat, some crops ready to harvest, bamboo decorations and a couple of trees. There are several other animal buildings available for purchase so you can start construction. You can also find vehicles you can build to make your farming life easier.
Your plots are limited in Jade Falls as well. You'll notice some very tight limits for plots, but these new crops seems fairly easy to reach mastery with. One planting of Sichuan Peppers gave us the first level of mastery fairly quickly.

FarmVille Gophers: Where did the feature go?

FarmVille players enjoying an early Saturday morning farming session caught a glimpse at an upcoming feature that wasn't quite ready yet.
Several unreleased crops were visible in the FarmVille Market this morning, with a message that you'll need to catch gophers to unlock them. They vanished almost as quickly as they appeared, and now Zynga is officially responding to the mystery crops. The following information is currenty being displayed in-game:
It looks like some players actually did get the new feature a bit early, and they've reported that upon harvesting crops, you have a chance of finding a Gopher. If you click it, you will catch it and earn points towards unlocking these new crops.
If you're one of the lucky few who have already caught some gophers, it looks like you're ahead of the game, as your progress won't be lost when the feature officially releases.
There is a FarmVille loading screen appearing in the game this evening that is advertising the new Gophers feature, so we're confident this will be releasing sooner rather than later.

FarmVille: Get your free Mini Longhorn Cow before he runs away

It's time to head out to the edge of our farmland in FarmVille again this weekend, as a new Lonely Animal has appeared for a limited time. In the past, these Lonely Animals have been disappointing duplicates of many animals we already had plenty of, but this newest animal is definitely worth the effort. For the next two days (and nine hours), you'll have a chance to lure a cute Mini Longhorn Cow into your game.

Even though the cow is smaller than other animals, you'll still need the same amount of help to actually get the cow to come into your farm. You'll need to ask five friends to come help you out, or you can purchase the cow outright with Farm Cash. Either way, remember to make a move fast, as once the next two days are up, this Mini Longhorn Cow will disappear from the edges of our farms, and will likely be unavailable in the game for quite some time, if it ever comes back at all.

Good luck earning the required amount of help in time to earn a free Mini Longhorn Cow!

FarmVille Hot Spring: Everything you need to know

After the launch of the Fishing Hole in FarmVille, a structure that offers users a chance to collect Special Delivery Boxes once per day (something many farmers probably aren't at a lack of), we've seen yet another functional building released for our farms, with just as questionable a purpose. The Hot Spring can be now be constructed and upgraded on our farms, with each one giving you a chance to collect Fertilizers everyday.

To be especially clear, these don't appear to be Fertilize All bags, bur rather individual Fertilizers. If you have a need for these items, which give you extra experience points when actually tending crops, you can now construct a single Hot Spring on a single farm using a new supply of building materials:

  • 32 Bed Rock
  • 32 Mineral Infusion
  • 32 Steam

You can earn these items by asking your friends to send them to you, but you'll need to earn all of these items each time you wish to construct a new Hot Spring, with one being available to build on each of your farms. Once you collect these parts, you can collect even more to upgrade the Hot Spring and chance its appearance in the process.

Again, once you construct the Hot Spring, you'll be able to collect bags of Fertilizer from it, but I'm left to wonder just how many players actually need Fertilizer and don't already have a supply on hand in their Gift Boxes. Perhaps this Hot Spring will receive an additional purpose at a later date, and if that happens, we'll make sure to let you know.

Get a FarmVille Hot Spring for free fertilizer

FarmVille released the new Hot Spring feature to players on Thursday afternoon.
The Hot Spring is a new, constructable building that will harvest for fertilizer each day. It works exactly the same as the recent Gas Pump does - you collect parts to build it up, then collect an item every 24 hours.
Fertilized crops in FarmVille have a chance of producing more bushels. Bushels, in turn, can you used to craft items in the game. Players can have one Hot Spring on each of their farms if they choose.
You'll be on the hunt for the following all-new parts for your Hot Spring:  Bed Rocks, Mineral Infusions and Steams. These items can be sent and received as free gifts from friends, you can find them on your Facebook game feed as players share their extra parts, or you can purchase them for Farm Cash.
