FarmVille Model Farm shows off Valentine's Day items, offers free prizes

Like every other installment of the Model Farm in FarmVille, a new edition is now available celebrating Valentine's Day, and also offering items for you for simply taking a few seconds to check it out. As usual, this Model Farm is nothing but a visual representation of some of the themed items you can currently purchase in the store, giving you a way to see items in their full sizes, sitting next to other like-objects. In theory, you can take some decorating ideas away from the Model Farm, and can also purchase these items instantly by just clicking on them.

If you're just in it for the goodies however, know that your first prize isn't so hot: just 500 coins. Still, with all of the coin land expansions that have recently released, you might need every coin now more than ever, so it definitely doesn't hurt to pick these up. Make sure to go back to the Model Farm everyday for a new prize.

FarmVille Cupid's Garden: Everything you need to know

We've had a week to gather Cupid's Arrows from our Romantic Carriages in FarmVille, and now it's finally time to put those arrows to good use, as the Cupid's Garden collection feature has officially launched in the game. Cupid's Garden is a large item that starts as just a few pebbles and some grass, but will transform over time to include a large gazebo and other fancy, love-centric decorations.

There are six items available within the Cupid's Garden, but like the Magic Snowman, you'll actually need to collect large groups of different kinds of items to earn some of them, rather than this being a situation where everything can be earned with just arrows. There are three different collectible items altogether, and while each goes to the overall growth of your Cupid's Garden (which will change in size and complexity from a visual standpoint), only two prizes go with each individual collectible:

Love Arrows
  • Heart Rose Bed - 5 Arrows
  • Smitten Stallion - 170 Arrows

Cupid Bows
  • Giant Cupid Tree - 35 Bows
  • Smitten Sheep - 75 Bows

Pair of Wings
  • Swan Pond - 15 Pairs of Wings
  • Smitten Cow - 100 Pairs of Wings

You can purchase any of these items for Farm Cash, or you can also ask for each individual ingredient via requests sent directly to friends. We haven't been given a time limit just yet for how long this feature will be available, but as we still have a few weeks before Valentine's Day itself arrives, you should have no problem earning enough items for your favorite prizes. Good luck!

FarmVille Money Trees now available: Earn 520 Farm Cash in a year

Do you remember that FarmVille Money Tree we brought you a sneak of just this morning? Well, it's now available in the game, and sure enough, it will allow you to double your investment of Farm Cash over one year's time, or 52 weeks.

The Money Tree costs 260 Farm Cash which is definitely a lot, but remember: it's an investment. Once you purchase it, you'll receive an automatic 26,000 experience points, and will then be started on a timer. After seven days, you'll be able to collect 10 Farm Cash from the tree. Wait another seven days and the tree will be ready to harvest for another 10 Farm Cash. And so the cycle goes, for all 52 weeks. At the end of this period, you will have earned 520 Farm Cash, which is exactly double your original investment.

The tree itself will be available in the market for the next two weeks, but you can purchase it at any time during that period to win the same reward. If you just so happen to purchase it a week after your friend, their 52 weeks will simply run out one week before yours. Ultimately, if you already purchase a lot of Farm Cash in FarmVille, this will likely be your dream come true, as it's a gift from Zynga in the amount of almost $50. Of course, you'll have to stick around for a whole year before receiving your entire reward, but if you're willing to shell out this kind of money in bulk, you probably aren't going anywhere anyway.

FarmVille 20X20 Winter Wonderland expansion

FarmVille has given players the ability to expand their Winter Wonderland farm space once again for Farm Coins!
Appearing in the game Monday afternoon, players can now purchase an 20x20 Frozen Farm for 300,000 Farm Coins. The expansion was previously available for 60 Farm Cash only.
Expanding to an 20x20 farm space will give you the ability to have up to 230 spaces for crops if you choose.
Land expansions for Farm Coins are always available for Farm Cash, but it is a rarity to see so many coin expansions for new farm space made available to players so quickly.
There are also Farm Coin expansions available for ALL farm spaces, so if you have been saving up Farm Coins, now's a good time to go spend them.

FarmVille: Earn 10% more Farm Cash in current promotion

Really Zynga? Is 10% really all you could spare? Regardless, if you're in the market for some Farm Cash in FarmVille and want to purchase some before Monday night, you can now earn 10% more with each purchase. This only applies to Zynga Game Cards redeemed on the site, or eCards purchased online / received as a gift through email.

Since Zynga always advertises these promotions as "sales," let's clarify something. That's nothing more than creative writing on the part of the big Z. Your full purchase price of the Zynga Game Card or eCard will be redeemed within the game, you'll simply receive 10% more Farm Cash when you redeem. In this way, it's really like saying each card is worth 110% of its Farm Cash value, rather than Farm Cash being "on sale," which implies you're spending less money. That simply isn't the case.

Still, if you're able to take part in this promotion, make sure you do so by the end of the day on January 23 (that's Monday, for those keeping score), or else you'll only receive the standard redemption amount, without the bonus. And don't worry - if a better deal launches, offering more than just 10% extra Farm Cash, we'll make sure to let you know.

FarmVille: Expand your Home Farm for free Rainbow Bridge

Apparently, the special snow treasures in FarmVille's Winter Wonderland did wonders to encourage users to expand their newest snowy farms, as a similar feature has come back to the Home Farm. With yesterday's announcement that all farms would receive coin land expansions (actually, my Winter Wonderland farm is still without), we've been given even more reason to expand our Home Farms with the arrival of a massive Rainbow Bridge on the outskirts of the farm.

If you click on the Rainbow Bridge, you'll receive a pop-up telling you that you'll need to expand your farm to 34x34 to receive it. If you have a whopping 5 million coins available to spend, you can purchase the 34x34 Exciting Expanse expansion and do just that. However - wait for it - the feature seems to be bugged for some users. That is, I immediately purchased the expansion after seeing the bridge on my farm and yet it never showed up in my Gift Box. Users on the FarmVille forums have reported receiving it for fine, but that it also may show up as a just a black circle.

That being the case, let's file this one in the "Wait and See" category. If you're like me, and have already expanded but didn't receive the Bridge, it's time to break out those typing skills and contact Zynga Support to see what has happened. If you haven't expanded just yet, I'd suggest holding off, at least a couple of days, to see if the issue is fixed.

FarmVille Romantic Carriage: Everything you need to know

While a few Valentine's Day items in the store is one thing, FarmVille has really jumped into the theme of romance this week with the launch of the Romantic Cottage on our farms. This Romantic Cottage serves as a precursor to the main holiday event, the Cupid's Garden item, that will be coming to the game "soon."

As it stands, the Romantic Cottage is an upgradeable item that has six levels of completion. What starts as a plain, brown pile of rubble soon turns into a beautiful carriage that can be harvested daily to earn Love Arrows. These Love Arrows can be thought of as Holiday Presents, and the Romantic Carriage as Santa's Sleigh, if you were around during the Christmas event at the end of 2011. The Cupid's Garden item will allow you to receive limited edition items, but those are unknown as of this writing.

What we do know, however, is how to upgrade that Romantic Carriage to produce more and more Arrows. The very first upgrade requires 12 each of Love, Flower Trims and Carriage Lamps. These items are earned by asking your friends to send them to you directly, or by purchasing them with Farm Cash. As you continue to upgrade the Carriage, you'll need more building materials to get the job done at each level, and eventually, you'll need other ingredients altogether (Cozy Blankets, Horse Treats and Fancy Chocolates).

If you're in more of a giving mood, also make sure to check out the game's free gifts page, as you can send all six of these Valentine's Day themed ingredients to your friends daily. We'll make sure to let you know when the Cupid's Garden collection event officially launches in FarmVille, so keep checking back with us!

FarmVille: Broken items offer hints of things to come?

Well now, isn't this interesting? This isn't the first time that Zynga has accidentally "released" items to the FarmVille marketplace before they were supposed to be publicly available, but we're definitely intrigued all the same. The folks at FVNation spotted these five items as being broken, but available to purchase within the game's store, and all of them fit into a winter / ice theme.

One item, the Icefishing Hut is specifically labeled as being a part of the Winter Fantasy theme, and is available for 15 Farm Cash. Three other items - a Ushanka Polar Bear, Bow Wolf and Ice Walrus - also cost Farm Cash (16, 10 and 12, respectively), but aren't labeled in any particular theme. Finally, the fifth item, the Fishing Camp, is available for just 5,000 coins, meaning that even if the developers catch their mistakes and remove these items from the store, it's worth purchasing one just to see if you can keep it.

Again, these items are currently broken in the store, meaning that if you decide to purchase them, they'll most likely show up as nothing but black shadows on your farms (this is the case with the Fishing Camp). With the Farm Cash items, there's no guarantee that these items will actually become functional down the line, so I personally wouldn't risk it. However, for the Fishing Camp - why not? At worst, you're out 5,000 coins if Zynga removes the item entirely, and at best, you're allowed to have a goal reward or otherwise exclusive item for an incredibly cheap price!

We'll make sure to let you know if these items are released in legitimate, working order in the game, so keep checking back with us!

FarmVille Sneak Peek: Chinese New Year animals coming to Mystery Game?

Well, they might be. All we know right now is that a set of new animals will be launching in FarmVille very soon, potentially as early as tomorrow evening. As Sunday nights mark the Mystery Game rotation, could we see some of these animals released in a Lunar / Chinese New Year themed game? FarmVille Freak has found these images, so we're left to speculate on our own, but we'll do just that.

From left to right in the image above, there's a Thuringian Goat, Mountain Dog, Mongolian Gazelle, Golden Pheasant, Master Goat, Golden Dragon, Sun Bear and Takin. Since that's more than seven items, it goes without saying that not all of them can be found in a single Mystery Game, but perhaps they'll be released in the store tomorrow night all the same. Whatever the case ends up being, we'll make sure to let you know.

FarmVille Sneak Peek: Valentine's Day animals coming soon

As animals are one of the biggest collectible items in FarmVille, it's no surprise that we'd see plenty of items being prepared by Zynga for the game's Valentine's Day celebration that will take place over the next month. FarmVilleFreak has discovered tons of those items that are ready to go, perhaps as early as tomorrow evening, with the game's scheduled update. Here's a look at them.

From left to right in the picture above, we have a Pink Pegacorn, Single Unicorn, Valentine Unicorn, Romance Horse, Romeo Cow, Romance Cow, Broken Heart Bear, Heart Boar, Valentine Goat, Kiss Ram, Heart Ram, Valentine Dog, Rose Pony, Valentine Giraffe and Pink Peacock.

Notice that a couple of these animals have broken hearts (the Single Unicorn and of course the Broken Heart Bear). Like last year, it looks like FarmVille will also have a sort of anti-Valentine's Day theme filled with these items for those players that may not appreciate this couples-centric holiday. In addition, we can see that at least two patterns will be added to sheep breeding (Kiss and Heart), so it's likely that a Kiss-patterned Boar will show up before all is said and done as well. Just don't be surprised if these animals are separated, with one being released in a Mystery Game and the other actually in the store.

Either way, we'll make sure to bring you complete details about these animals as they officially launch in the game, so keep checking back with us.

FarmVille Winter Livestock Pen: Everything you need to know

In the middle of December, Zynga released the Winter Horse Paddock and Winter Cow Pasture in FarmVille, allowing players in Winter Wonderland (or elsewhere) to store their new winter animals in themed buildings. While Horses and Cows are just two groups of animals in the game, that same themed storage has now come to goats, sheep and pigs via the Winter Livestock Pen.

Luckily, if you still have some ingredients on hand from the previous Livestock Pens you've probably built, you can use those here, as you'll need 10 each of Water Pumps, Wires and Steel Beams to complete the Winter Livestock Pen's construction. These items, of course, come from item requests sent to friends, or they can be purchased individually for 1 Farm Cash each. When you finish its construction, you'll be left with a building that can hold 20 goats, sheep and pigs, and will be given a Snow Flake Pig for free.

Afterwards, you can immediately go to work expanding the building to hold more animals, by simply collecting more and more of the three building ingredients above. That is, to expand the first time, you'll need 15 of each item. This takes the capacity to 30 animals, while the next expansion takes 20 of each ingredient and brings the Winter Livestock Pen to its maximum capacity of 40 individual animals.

This still doesn't complete the lineup of animal storage buildings that need to be given winter treatments, but it does get us one step closer. Every little bit counts, right?

FarmVille: 50% off Farm Cash offers going out through email

If you're running low on Farm Cash (or just enjoy taking advantage of a good bargain), make sure to keep an eye on your email. Zynga is sending out emails to a group of FarmVille players, offering them 50% off Farm Cash, but only for a limited time.

This deal is offered as a New Year's celebration - a way to start off 2012 on a positive note. Unfortunately, these emails do contain links that must be followed to activate the 50% off coupon in your game, so you won't be able to just load your farm and magically see the offer appear. Sure, offers are currently going through rotation, but these currently contain free-gifts-with-purchases, rather than an actual discount on Farm Cash itself. Also, not all players are receiving these coupons. It could be that they're just being sent out to the game's most active players, or perhaps those that have purchased Farm Cash in the past, but either way, you'll need to keep an extra special eye on your inbox until the end of the week to make sure you don't miss out on your chance to score extra Farm Cash at a fairly reasonable price.

You'll be able to redeem your coupon until the end of the work week, January 13 at 11:59 PM EST. The coupon applies to all Farm Cash and coin packages, so it's at least worth looking before turning down the opportunity altogether.

FarmVille Frock Goals: Everything you need to know

A new set of goals has launched across our farms in FarmVille today, with this one being about the arts: painting, photography, sculpting and the like. You'll have two weeks to finish the 12 goals in this series. According to details discovered by FarmVilleFreak, there are plenty of frozen or "ice-themed" items in this goal series, so I hope you're ready to get cold!

Sculpting Along

  • Get 4 Ice Brushes
  • Harvest 150 Wheat
  • Harvest 50 Fruit

For this Ice Brush task, along with other "get" tasks in this entire goal series, you'll need to ask your friends to send you those particular items (normally through general news posts on your wall). When you finish this goal, you'll receive 100 XP, an Ice Sheep and 2,500 coins.

Whittle Whittle Wow
  • Get 6 Whittled Animals
  • Harvest 175 Snow Carnations
  • Harvest 1 Ice Sheep

The Snow Carnation is a limited edition crop that we brought you a guide to recently. You still have plenty of time to plant it, but you might as well plant some flowers now to finish off this goal fast. Your rewards? 200 XP, a Whittled Tree and 2,500 coins.

Ice Flash
  • Get 8 Inspirational Photos
  • Harvest 200 Lilac
  • Harvest 1 Ice Sheep

Reward: Snowman Photographer, 300 XP, 2,500 coins

You can create one of these in your Craftshop using Wheat, Lilac and Peanut bushels, and the actual crafting process takes 10 hours to complete by default. The Ice Horse Sculpture is also crafted inside your Craftshop using Cranberry, Cotton and Spinach bushels. This recipe takes 10 hours to complete by default. For finishing this final goal in the series, you'll receive 1,000 XP, an Ice Horse and 10,000 coins.

FarmVille: Snowflake crafting recipes help you build a snowman

After the release of the Magic Snowman in FarmVille, you might be wondering if there are additional ways to earn Magic Snowflakes, other than by waiting for your Ice Palace to be ready to harvest or by earning them from friends' wall posts. Fortunately, there are other ways of earning more Snowflakes, but you'll have to put forth a bit of your own effort (and time) to do so.

There are new crafting recipes across your Home and Winter Wonderland farms, with these limited edition recipes all being themed around Snowflakes. Whether you craft these recipes or just collect shared samples from friends, when you "use" them - redeem them for fuel - you'll receive a free Magic Snowflake.

On your Home Farm, your particular kind of crafting building will determine which craft you'll actually make. For instance, you'll craft Snowflake Soap in the Spa, with each batch of soap requiring two Holly, three Aloe Vera and two Lilac bushels to create. In the Bakery (as another example), you'll create Snowflake Cookies, with each tray of cookies requiring three Gingerbread, two Sugar Cane and two Wheat bushels to craft.

Meanwhile, in Winter Wonderland, you'll craft the Sugar Snowflake inside your Sweet Shoppe. This one takes two Red Iceberry, one Gummi Bear and two Sugar Cane bushels to craft. As with other limited edition recipes, you'll apparently only need to reach Level 20 in mastery in order to receive the full five-star mastery sign that can be displayed on your farm. Oddly enough, there aren't any recipes in the Restaurant in Lighthouse Cove or the Pub in the English Countryside, so feel free to use those farms to grow crops that will give off the bushels you need elsewhere.

You only have a limited amount of time to craft these different recipes, so you will need to do a bit of multitasking to finish these multiple recipes to full mastery in time. Still, if you use your Lighthouse Cove and English Countryside farms effectively, you should be able to manage just that. Good luck!

FarmVille: Winter and ice items come to the Craftshop

If you still craft items inside your Craftshops in FarmVille, you'll be happy to know that your set of available crafting options has now increased by three. That's right - three new recipes have been added to the Craftshop, all in a winter and ice theme (and one is even functional!).

The first recipe is the Magic Snowflake, giving you another outlet for earning Magic Snowflakes (for your Magic Snowman) aside from crafting items in your Sweet Shoppe or Spa (and the like), earning them from your friends' wall posts or collecting them from your Ice Palace. A single Magic Snowflake requires one Mint Candy, two Sugar Cane and three Green Tea bushels to create, and it takes six hours once you start the crafting process.

The other two items are decorations in the form of the Ice Pig Sculpture and the Ice Horse Sculpture. The Pig requires two Wheat, two Lilac and three Peanut bushels, while the Horse takes three Cranberry, two Cotton and three Spinach bushels. Both of these recipes take 10 hours to complete, but of course, you can ask your friends to help you out along the way. If you need some mastery stars to unlock other recipes in your Craftshop, these two are perfect, as you only need to craft each a single time to reach the first star of mastery. Earning the other two stars on each will likely be just as easy.

Either way, these recipes appear to be permanent, as none of them are marked with time limits. If I were to make a guess, I'd say that the Magic Snowflake recipe might eventually expire, but even then, it's not a guarantee. If you've given up on crafting, make sure to take a look at these new recipes to see if they can be the spark that gets you back into the feature.
