Pioneer Trail: Play FarmVille 2 for free boosts, trees and more

Yet another cross-promotion has launched across Zynga's games, as Pioneer Trail players are being given the chance to earn free boosts by simply playing (and hopefully sticking with) FarmVille 2 on Facebook.

As with so many other cross-promotions, this one is level based, with rewards being passed out starting at level three. At that point, players will receive 25 Cotton Ready Boosts back on their Homesteads. If you've already reached Level 3 in FarmVille 2, you'll still need to click on the "Play Now!" button on your Homestead to make your progress "sync" across both games.

After that point, it seems as though this promotion might be slightly bugged, or at least slow to roll out to all players. We know that we'll eventually receive free Fully Grown Willow Trees and Raging Buffalo, but the specific levels required for those prizes are still up in the air. If we had to make a guess, it'd be that these prizes are handed out at Levels 10 and 15 in Pioneer Trail, but we've reached out to Zynga for specifics. Stay tuned!

FarmVille ends September with massive double mastery event

Zynga is preparing to send September out with a bang in FarmVille, as the developer has launched a massive double mastery event on our farms. From now until October 1 at 12PM Pacific, players can earn double the mastery points on every tree, crop and animal harvested.

This is an especially exciting event, as most double mastery events exclude animals and just allow for double the points to be earned on crops and trees. Now, though, players are being given the chance to master an insane amount of items, in one the longest double mastery events this farmer can ever remember being activated.

Remember, if you've already purchased any sort of double mastery statue, that gives you these boosts permanently on one or more farms, these events typically don't stack, so it will be as though the event isn't even happening in your own game. For the rest of us, however, this is definitely an exciting time to be a virtual farmer.

FarmVille Mystery Game (09/23/12): FarmVille goes steampunk with new prizes

While FarmVille's Haunted Hollow may have already ushered in the fall holiday season, that doesn't mean everything in the game has turned into pumpkins and zombies just yet. In fact, this week's Mystery Game is full of a rather unique theme of mechanical and steam-powered animals and decorations. This week's game costs 16 Farm Cash to play, and we're here with a complete list of the available prizes, with details and images

Mechanical Rooster
Steam Deer
Steam Horse
Steam Pegacorn
Steam Sheep
Steampunk Mansion

Remember, if you can manage to win one of each of these six prizes, you'll receive a seventh bonus prize at no additional cost: the Steam Owl, which is a decorative bird sitting on a wooden perch. While this Owl is technically free, by the time you've earned one of each of the six prizes in this week's game, you'll likely have wasted plenty of Farm Cash on duplicate prizes along the way, so he's definitely not "free."

Remember, this week's prizes will only be around until next Sunday, when the full Halloween event in FarmVille should be well under way. Good luck earning these particular prizes while you can!

FarmVille Sneak Peek: Haunted Hollow expansion farm coming soon!

The idea of a holiday themed farm definitely isn't foreign to FarmVille, as the game received a Christmas / Winter themed farm last fall called Winter Wonderland. While many players feel that that farm has since been abandoned, it looks like Zynga is once again gearing up for a holiday celebration in the game via the release of a brand new farm expansion called Haunted Hollow.

While official details concerning Haunted Hollow are still under wraps, the folks at FVNation have discovered the first set of pictures and details about the farm, which is obviously themed around Halloween. The farm will have a purple and orange color palette, and will see the reintroduction of some old decorations that we've seen released in years past. In addition, a series of at least 11 new crops will be available to plant, ranging from Franken Fruits and Jack O'Lanterns to Tombstones and Hollow Garlic.

Presumably, a new set of animals and trees will also be released in Haunted Hollow, and new quests will also likely be available to complete to introduce us to the farm. From the single overall screenshot FVNation has discovered (seen below), it doesn't appear as though Haunted Hollow has a large overall building project like Winter Wonderland's Polar Train Station (for instance), but we wouldn't be surprised if this does exist, and simply isn't visible in the image below.

Either way, we'll make sure to stay on top of things and will bring you all of the news you need to know about Haunted Hollow as soon as we learn more! Stay tuned!
