FarmVille: Double animal mastery on now for Memorial Day

While double mastery events in FarmVille are nothing new, these events normally revolve around just crop and tree mastery, rather than animal mastery. For the Memorial Day weekend (in the US), farmers can actually look forward to mastering some of their many animals, as double animal mastery has been turned on instead!

This event means that you'll earn double the mastery points from each individual animal you harvest, across your many farms, from now until Sunday at 9 PM Pacific. It would have been great to see this extended to Monday evening as well, but I'm definitely not complaining about the two days we have been offered.

Now's your chance to make some major progress on mastering calves and foals, or even regular adult animals on your farms, so make sure to play as often as you can to make the most of this event!

FarmVille Serve Money Tree: Everything you need to know

When the Serve farm launched in FarmVille earlier this month, we were told that there was the possibility for a Serve Money Tree to launch on our farms. This exciting update has become real this week, as you can now complete a Serve themed quest in the game and will receive a Serve Money Tree to place on your farm.

The quest asks you to simply place the Serve Money Tree on your farm (it will be given to you automatically, but only if your Gift Box is below the 5,000 item limit) and then harvest from it once. Luckily, you won't have to wait two days for the Serve tree to become ready to harvest (as with other FarmVille trees), as this one can be harvested instantly. You'll receive a single Farm Cash for doing so, and can earn up to 7 Farm Cash in total if you choose to do nothing else. If you plan to sign up for a Serve card via American Express (we brought you the full details of that partnership earlier this week), you'll be able to upgrade the Serve Money Tree three times, to eventually earn up to 360 Farm Cash in total.

As for the Serve Money Tree quest we mentioned above, you'll be able to finish it off by watching a video about Serve, and will receive a special, exclusive Serve Parrot when you finish the entire quest, along with 500 XP and 1,000 coins.

Even though this quest only takes a matter of minutes to complete, you'll still have the next six days to finish it off. Just make sure to complete these simple steps at some point so as to not miss out on your free Farm Cash and Serve themed Parrot for your farm!

FarmVille Sneak Peek: Jade Falls animal pens offer themed storage for your critters

Giving more evidence to the development of a sixth farm in FarmVille, Jade Falls, are animal breeding / storage pens and Mystery Babies that contain a decidedly Asian flair. Discovered by the folks at FVNation, there looks to be at least five animal pens that will be available at launch, including a water pen, which will give players a second farm on which to place their water animals (outside of Hawaiian Paradise).

So far, we can see the water pen, an Aviary, what looks to be a Horse Paddock and Cow Pasture, along with a Baby Playpen. This leaves the Pet Run, Livestock Pen, Wildlife Habitat and Zoo out of the current equation (wow, that's a lot of animal buildings, if you think about it), but we can only assume those are being worked on as well, or perhaps simply haven't been discovered as of this writing.

As for the Mystery Babies, it looks as though a basket with blue flowers will be the "common" rarity option, while a pink flower basket will contain "rare" babies (since most previous releases sees a more complex basket containing the rarer of the two), and of course, at least one kind of water baby will be available as well.

There's no telling just how many different animals will be released in Jade Falls, but I wouldn't be surprised if we had enough animals to warrant the building of all of these structures (and more) within just a few weeks of its release. We'll make sure to stay on top of things and will let you know when we've learned more about the exciting new Jade Falls expansion!

FarmVille Fishing Hole: Everything you need to know

While I'd guess most FarmVille players aren't suffering from a lack of Special Delivery Boxes, if you do happen to run through yours just as fast as your friends can then them to you, you can now build the new upgradeable Fishing Hole on one of your farms. This Fishing Hole, once built and upgraded, will allow you to collect from it daily in order to earn free Special Delivery Boxes.

The first stage of the Fishing Hole (there are four stages in all) requires 34 parts: 10 Lures and 12 each of Fishing Poles and Lily Pads. You can collect these by asking your friends to send them to you, or by purchasing them outright with Farm Cash. Once you've finished this first stage, the Fishing Hole will technically be functional, allowing you to collect just a single Special Delivery Box each time you collect from it. As you continue to upgrade the Fishing Hole with additional building materials, your payouts will increase, as seen below.

  • Level 1: 1 Special Delivery Box
  • Level 2: 2 Special Delivery Boxes
  • Level 3: 3 Special Delivery Boxes
  • Level 4: 6 Special Delivery Boxes

As you can see, there's definitely great incentive to eventually upgrade your Fishing Hole, as those six Special Delivery Boxes per collection will allow you to complete the upgrades on any number of structures around your farms - even those on other farms, as you can wait until you travel to another farm before actually opening the Special Delivery Box. That's pretty great, right?

FarmVille Prodigious Prairie Land Expansion available now for Farm Cash

Is your Home Farm, in all of its 36x36 glory still not big enough? If your answer is a resounding NO (and you happen to have a lot of Farm Cash to spend), you can now expand to the 38x38 land expansion, which has just been released in the store this week.

The "Prodigious Prairie" land expansion will add that extra virtual square footage to your farm at a price of 205 Farm Cash. Before you gasp with sticker shock, that's the current Farm Cash price of the 36x36 land expansion (the Amazing Acreage expansion) as well, so it's not like we're seeing an increase in the price. Still, 205 Farm Cash equates to almost $40 US, if you purchase Farm Cash at its full price (that is, when it's not on sale). Is that price worth a few extra squares on your Home Farm? We'll leave that up to you to decide.

Whatever the case, we'll make sure to keep an eye on this expansion (and all others in the game) and will let you know when you can get your hands on it (them) for coins. Stay tuned!

FarmVille: Free Postier Brenton horse and Flower Bull up for grabs

Not only are farmers encouraged to take advantage of triple mastery on all crops and trees in FarmVille this weekend, but animals are also being given away all around the game!

There are two free animal promotions currently running as of this writing, allowing you to walk away with at least three animals when all is said and done. For one, you will now see a picture of a brown horse called a Postier Brenton on the left side of your screen (underneath your goal icons). Clicking on this will allow you to post two of these animals to your wall, where friends can claim them for free. For each friend that accepts your gift, you'll receive a horse in exchange. This means you're looking at earning at least two of these free Postier Brenton horses, even if you don't try to claim those posted by your friends on their own walls.

Furthermore, a new lonely animal has wandered into the game in the form of a Flower Bull. This bull is one of the prettiest animals I've personally seen in some time, with a blue and white body being accompanied by a random (and equally colorful) flower pattern. Luring this lonely animal into your farm is as easy as you'd expect: you'll simply need to ask five friends to help you lure it into your game, and will be able to share an additional bull with your friends when you've accomplished the task. For the record, you can also purchase the Flower Bull with Farm Cash if you don't want to wait for your friends to help, but you'll need to make either decision within three days, before this Flower Bull wanders off, potentially never to be seen again. You wouldn't want that to happen, now would you?

FarmVille: Mother's Day means triple mastery all weekend!

While we've already seen quite a bit of Mother's Day content released in FarmVille, both in terms of limited edition items in the store and promotions with big names like Pro Flowers, we've seen the mother of all celebrations (pun intended) launch this weekend: Triple Mastery!

That's right, from now until Tuesday evening at 9PM Pacific, you'll earn triple the amount of mastery points on each and every crop or tree you harvest in that time. This counts across all of your farms, but unfortunately doesn't include animals. Still, if you use your Orchards correctly, or even plant some short-growth-time crops, you can earn quite a few mastery signs in a short amount of time, saving yourself plenty of effort in the long run!

Just don't forget to actually wish your mom a Happy Mother's Day before you get too distracted planting and harvesting crops and trees!

FarmVille Perfect Pet: Everything you need to know

Did you enjoy the dream vacation house feature in FarmVille, that allowed you to customize a large, tropical building based on choices you and your friends made about your own personality? I hope so, as a similar new feature has launched on your farms this week, this time dealing with pets. Specifically, you'll be given a large plot of land and will be able to build it up in the quest for your "Perfect Pet."

There are seven stages to this garden or play area's growth, with each requiring you to collect votes from friends on two options per question. The first question allows you to ask your friends if they think you'd rather play outside or lay in the sun, with four votes on either side giving you one prize or the other. You'll earn votes by posting general news items on your wall, but of course, you don't have to rely solely on your friends' opinions. If you want one prize more than the other, make sure to ask your friends to vote a specific way so that you'll be almost guaranteed to win it.

Luckily, it looks like we'll be able to repeat this feature to earn the other half of the prizes we'll miss out on first, but make sure to vote the way you most agree with your first time around, as these responses will change the appearance of your Perfect Pet play area as it grows.

We'll have the next 40 or so days to work on this Perfect Pet feature, but if you don't wish to ask your friends for help whatsoever, you can also purchase these prizes outright with Farm Cash in the store. Again, there's no good reason to do so, however, as you can earn them all for free. Either way, make sure to keep a sharp eye on this feature and how many votes you have at all times, since you'll need to ask for quite a few to finish it off even once.

Where's the FarmVille Flea Market feature?

It’s always fun to learn of a new feature in a game we love, but it’s no fun being left out. More than a week after an official slow release, many FarmVille players are still waiting for the new Flea Market feature to hit their farms.
The Flea Market, as we reported last week, brings a virtual sale into FarmVille, giving players the opportunity to sell items they may no longer want. Many times, items cold be sold for Farm Cash.
It all sounds wonderful - if you’re one of the lucky players who have the feature, that is.
On Tuesday, Zynga has finally addressed the issue in their support site, letting players know the following:
Whoa Farmers! We’re excited to hear so many of you are looking forward to a visit from the Flea Market and welcomed this new feature. Unfortunately, the Flea Market leverages brand new systems and infrastructures that need some time to be stabilized for the best experience for all our farmers. For this reason, it might take Claire several weeks visit your farm. Sorry for the inconvenience but please be patient – the Flea Market will arrive soon.
