FarmVille Mother's Day Countdown: Everything you need to know

I hope you collected all of the items for the April Showers countdown in FarmVille, as that one has now been replaced with one celebrating Mother's Day. Like other countdowns, this one will last for 12 days, during which time you'll be able to receive 12 unique prizes by asking your friends to send you collectibles every day (or, once every six hours if you're dedicated to the feature).

So far, we've been able to collect two prizes: a Mother's Day Teddy and Mom's Favorite Gnome, so that leaves us with 10 prizes that have yet to be unlocked! You can unlock them early with Farm Cash, or you can simply wait for the clock to strike over on a new day for the next 10 days and earn these items for free. Each item requires you to ask your friends for certain collectibles via general news posts on your wall, so it shouldn't be that difficult to complete in the long run.

Remember, if you can collect all 12 prizes throughout this countdown, you'll walk away with a special 12th prize. It's likely an animal (if history has taught us anything), but that much is still a secret for right now. If you can't wait to unlock this special final prize for free, you can also purchase it with Farm Cash (the amount of Farm Cash decreases based on how many of the countdown's items you've already unlocked).

Whatever you decide, just remember to login to your farm everyday during this feature so you can add a ton of motherly love to your farms and your life over the next two weeks.

FarmVille Flea Market: Everything you need to know

Earlier in April, we brought you a sneak peek of the then unreleased Flea Market in FarmVille, a feature that promised to allow you to get rid of excess items for some sort of currency. Well, the time has come that we take a deeper look at this Flea Market, as it has started rolling out to all farmers.

The Flea Market is run by a girl named Claire, who will be visiting your farm once every three days with a list of offers. You can travel freely back and forth across all of your farms to see six new offers for each farm (and can even reload your current farm to see the selection change), but she will only buy one item from you every three days. That is, if you sell an item on your English Countryside farm, you can't suddenly travel to Winter Wonderland and sell something else. Here's a quick run-through of how this works, using a Chicken as an example.

Upon traveling to a farm, you can click on Claire's image in your friends list (she's the first one there now) to see a series of six offers for items currently on that farm. Most of these offers will likely be for coins, but the feature's menus do state "currency" instead of "coins," so there's definitely the possibility that Farm Cash could be offered at some point down the line.

In our example, we can see that a Cornish Chicken can be sold for 225,000 coins. This could be the standard price for the chicken, or it could be a one-time-only price for this particular three day period (that much hasn't been stated exactly). Either way, by parting with this single Cornish Chicken (an animal that can be earned freely through so many other methods), we'd walk away with 225,000 coins free and clear.

Again, Claire will only be available to buy something once every three days, but since you can freely travel across your farms until you find the perfect item to sell (hopefully a duplicate or an item that costs very little to purchase anew in the store), you'll likely never see her talents go to waste. While coins definitely aren't as valuable as Farm Cash, when it comes to massive farm expansions, if you're like me, you'll be happy to score so many coins with such little effort.

Make sure to take advantage of this new feature to clear out some excess animals or items that you no longer need, or just to boost your own wallet every now and again. Who knows, maybe Claire will offer you a bundle of Farm Cash that you can use to spoil yourself with something nice!

FarmVille Tree Groves: Everything you need to know

Attention tree farmers! A new feature in FarmVille will help you earn double or even quadruple the tree mastery points every time you harvest an orchard! Sounds great, right? The feature is called a Tree Grove, and you'll need to start building them on your farms to capitalize on these bonus mastery points, coins and even coconuts.

To be specific, a Tree Grove functions very much like an Orchard, in that you'll be able to use it to store 20 individual trees, and can then harvest those trees once every two days for the expected rewards. You can build different Groves across all of your farms, but you must complete one before building another on that same farm. You'll need to build each one from scratch using 30 building ingredients.

  • 10 Mini Boulders
  • 10 Mulch Soil
  • 10 Turf Rolls

These items can be earned by asking your friends to send them to you, by claiming them from friends' wall posts or by purchasing them outright with Farm Cash. Once you've finished the construction of a single Tree Grove, you can not only start storing trees within it, but you can also take advantage of what really makes them different and worthwhile: their bonus blue areas.

When hovering on a Tree Grove, you'll see two blue outlines that are conveniently large enough to hold an Orchard within them. To be clear, this simply means that you'll need to place one or two Orchards next to one or both sides of the Tree Grove so that they're sitting "within" that blue bonus area. Groves can face in two directions, as seen below.

For each blue bonus zone that touches an Orchard, that Orchard will receive 100% more mastery points and 15% more coins and Coconuts whenever it's harvested. Say you have an Orchard with 20 full trees inside, and the trees normally pay out 3,000 coins when harvested. You'll then receive 40 mastery points and 6,000 coins when in a single blue zone.

Luckily, since these Groves offer blue zones in two different directions, you can actually "stack them" and allow up to four of them to boost a single Orchard each time it's harvested, for a complete boost of 400% mastery and (in theory) 60% extra coins and coconuts with each harvest. Just remember, these boosts apply only to the Orchards within the blue zones, and not to the Tree Groves themselves.

One final thing to note is the introductory prize that Zynga is offering to players that complete their first Tree Grove fast. After finishing your first Tree Grove, you'll receive a second, fully-built Tree Grove for free. You can only receive one free Tree Grove, but one is definitely better than none with all of the potential that a single Tree Grove brings to the game.

Well, what are you waiting for? Start building your very own Tree Groves and you'll have more tree mastery stars and signs than you can count in no time!

FarmVille Sneak Peek: Farm Cash Flea Market coming soon

Are your FarmVille farms or your in-game gift box overflowing with useless, duplicate decorations or outdated items that you simply no longer want or need? It looks like those items might be given a new purpose in the future, with that purpose being to fund your virtual wallet with Farm Cash! According to images found by the folks at FVNation, a new Flea Market feature is in the works for our games that will offer us Farm Cash in exchange for old items.

Unfortunately, what these items are exactly is still up in the air. It could be that we'll be given an option to trade excess decorations (like bonus decorations you may claim from a holiday collection event) for a few Farm Cash each, or this could be something as complex as allowing us to trade away extra Ducklings, Saplings and the like for Farm Cash in bulk. We simply don't know enough about this Flea Market yet to make any conclusions.

Considering the game's history, I have a hard time getting too excited about this, but the image does make it pretty clear that Farm Cash is the name of the game, and that we'll be getting some (apparently) for free. We'll make sure to stay on top of things, and will let you know if that indeed happens to be the case, or if this is simply too good to be true.

FarmVille: Winter Wonderland storage transfer licenses rolling out now

If you're still enjoying your time in FarmVille's Winter Wonderland, or perhaps want to move some items from that farm to others, you can now do so, if you've reached Level 10 on your Railroad, that is. That's right, the free Winter Wonderland Storage Transfer Licenses (phew, what a mouthful!) are now rolling out to users that have reached Level 10 in their railroads and then travel into Winter Wonderland to receive them.

There are currently a few ways to make this activate, according to players on the game's official forums. For one, you can collect from your Railroad and see if this triggers the license to arrive. Other players suggest doing nothing and waiting for it to appear on its own. Above all else, you'll need to make sure you're under 5,000 items in your Gift Box, as this storage License will spawn into your Gift Box, where you must manually use it to activate it. From there, you can start to freely move items back and forth to and from your winter playground as you please!

FarmVille April Showers Spring Countdown: Everything you need to know

Last year, Zynga launched a Spring Countdown in FarmVille, giving dedicated players a way to earn plenty of then exclusive prizes for simply playing the game for 12 days in a row and asking friends for a bit of help. Now a year later, another installment in the Spring Countdown has arrived, this one being tag-lined with "April Showers."

Once again, there are 12 days of prizes ahead of us, with Day 1's prize being the only one available as of this writing. It's an April Flower Patch, and you'll earn it by asking your friends to send you three Wheelbarrows. This is accomplished via a general news item posted on your wall, so if you have plenty of active neighbors, you could finish this day's task in a matter of minutes. If you wish to purchase additional Flower Patches, you can do so for 5 Farm Cash each.

For the next 11 days, a new prize will be given away, but you can unlock the ability to earn further prizes right now for Farm Cash if you don't want to wait. As with previously released countdowns in FarmVille, if you can manage to secure each of the 12 prizes in this event, you'll win a special bonus prize. We're not quite sure what the prize is as of this writing, but we do know that impatient players can find out immediately by buying it outright for 195 Farm Cash (that number will decrease as you earn each daily item).

FarmVille: Adopt your free Spotted Pink Skunk before it's too late!

Adding a bit of whimsy to FarmVille this week is a new lonely animal in the form of the Spotted Pink Skunk. Forget white and black, as this one is black and pink (and quite cute too, I must say). Luckily, at least one of these Skunks will be available to all users absolutely free, so long as they put forth a little effort to complete this lonely animal event.

As you might have guessed, to lure this Spotted Pink Skunk into your farm, you'll need to ask five individual friends to come and help you coax the little fella in. You can purchase this help with Farm Cash if you'd rather not bug your neighbors, but either way, you'll need to make your decision within three days, as the Skunk won't be around forever.

It's exciting to see the lonely animal feature updated with new or otherwise interesting animals, rather than the same copy-and-pastes of weeks and months past. Hopefully, this is a trend that continues into the future, and you can be sure we'll let you know if that's the case!
