FarmVille Sneak Peek: Easter equals exciting... chickens?

As Easter is the next big holiday that Zynga will likely celebrate in FarmVille, it only makes sense that we'd start to see unreleased images of items that fit in with that Easter (or Spring) theme, and that's definitely happening now. FarmVilleFreak has come across two different chickens that each look ready to celebrate the new season, with one even resembling one of Easter's most famous treats - the Peep!

A new Marshmallow Chicken is all yellow and comes complete with a matching Marshmallow Mystery Egg (the contents of which are still unknown), while the other chicken is more colorful with a lovely bonnet on its head. Of course, then, the chicken is called the Bonnet Chicken and its pink and blue Mystery Egg will be available at random presumably when collecting from Chicken Coops that contain those Bonnet Chickens.

Of course, we're still not sure when these chickens will be released or how (that is, will they be available in the store or as a quest prize?), but we'll make sure to update you just as soon as we learn more about these cute little chickens. Keep checking back!

FarmVille: Build that Candy Castle with free parts from Zynga

Last week, the Candy Castle launched in FarmVille. This collection building can be upgraded to various levels in order to earn more items for the upcoming Giant Sundae. However, the very first level of construction on the Candy Castle required you to collect a whopping 47 items to complete it. Needless to say, that's a huge amount compared to other building projects, and was apparently such a large number that many players were ignoring it entirely.

Zynga hopes to fix this by offering all players 17 of each of the three building materials: Marshmallows, Gingerbread and Chocolate, so that we can complete the very first stage of construction for free. Again, this is enough parts to finish the very first level of construction on the Candy Castle. Upgrading through the rest of the levels will still be up to you, but thankfully, the second upgrade requires less items than the first (presumably, all upgrades have been tweaked to make the construction of the Candy Castle easier).

You'll still earn these building materials by asking your friends to help you out (or purchasing them with Farm Cash), but these free parts should do well to boost you in the right direction. Good luck building your entire Candy Castle!

FarmVille How-To: Earn your free items at the Miracle Gro Farm

As we told you earlier this week, a new sponsored farm has started rolling out to FarmVille players this weekend, as Zynga has partnered with Miracle Gro to advertise the gardening solution via an entirely themed farm. The Miracle Gro Farm can be found at the very front of your in-game friends list, and by visiting it, you'll be asked to "Sprinkle Miracle-Gro!" on the crops that are currently growing.

In a few seconds, this new farm will sprout with all sorts of crops, and you'll then be asked to travel to the Miracle Gro Facebook fan page in order to see your rewards. Of course, we'll tell you what they are without that extra step. For completing this short step, you'll receive a Giant Miracle-Gro Tomato Tree for your farm, along with a bottle of Miracle-Gro Insta-Gro to be used on your crops. If you do Like the Facebook fan page (as you're heavily encouraged to do), you'll apparently be eligible for more themed rewards in the future, although details about those items are unknown as of this writing.

Fortunately, this promotion is available worldwide, and not just to players that live in the US. If you have trouble receiving your items, or are otherwise told that you're not eligible, make sure to refresh your FarmVille game and check your gift box as the prizes should be there. If not, contact Zynga Customer Support and they should set things right.

We'll make sure to let you know if Miracle-Gro sponsors any further promotions in FarmVille, so keep checking back with us!

FarmVille Players Can Now Use Miracle-Gro

Miracle-Gro is kicking off the gardening season with a brand integration in Zynga's FarmVille.
Players of the popular online game can now use the fertilizer product to grow and harvest their crops. The promotion runs through April 3.
"This integration is a fun, contextually relevant way to engage FarmVille players with the Miracle-Gro brand in the fast-exploding social gaming world,” said Tom McLoughlin, vice president gardens and landscaping, ScottsMiracle-Gro, in a release. Zynga research shows that eight out of 10 surveyed FarmVille players in the U.S. also enjoy gardening at home, and over three-quarters of the players surveyed are interested in growing their own vegetables, fruits and flowers.
For the gro-a-thon, Miracle-Gro has created a custom farm within FarmVille that walks players through the benefits of using Miracle-Gro in their gardens, and they will be rewarded with virtual goods for their FarmVille farms.
The Miracle-Gro/FarmVille integration is part of the kickoff of "Hello, First Bite!" -- Miracle-Gro brand's digital advertising campaign focused on edible gardening and the celebratory experience of a consumer's first bite from their personal harvest of homegrown fruits and vegetables.
Miracle-Gro joins a long list of other brands that have used the social media game on which to advertise, including McDonald’s, Discover Card, Cascadian Farm, Megamind, Farmers Insurance, Bing and 7-Eleven. FarmVille also offers engagement advertising where users can interact with a brand in exchange for free farm cash through an ad platform called SVnetwork.
FarmVille is the world’s fourth-largest social game with over 27 million monthly active users, according to App Data.

FarmVille: Old quest items will stop cluttering your gift box

While we all may have the occasional complaint about how things run in FarmVille, Community Manager Grimwell has announced a small new feature that is actually fairly fantastic (and long overdue). If you're like me (or I'm sure thousands or even millions of other players), you likely have at least a few old goal items clogging up your gift box. Now, Zynga has implemented some new coding that will automatically remove those items from your gift box and compensate you in the process.

To be more specific, it can often be hard to remember which requested items (Dog Toys, Cotton Balls, etc. - those items that you must "Get" to complete goals in the game) are for upcoming goals or for those that you've already passed. Selling them manually will net you 100 coins per item, but who wants to take the time to constantly monitor how many excess items they have floating around in their gift boxes? With this new update, the game will remove them for you, and will give you the 100 coins for each item automatically when you load your game.

As this feature rolls out to users, you can expect your entire inventory of literally useless items to be wiped automatically, and you'll be given 20,000 coins as compensation for any and all of those items. Again, this isn't anything that will remove useful items form your inventory - only those that are for goals you've already completed, or that have expired. In the future, this removal will happen as you collect individual excess items, either by clicking on your friends' news posts or just receiving them from friends in other ways. Putting it simply, you can now say goodbye to all of those junk items in your Gift Box and hello to much more storage space for watering cans, mystery seedlings or boosts. How cool is that?!

FarmVille gift box cleanup

Zynga is giving FarmVille players a helping hand when it comes to the many quest items we've got stored in our gfit box.
Beginning March 19, a new feature is slowly rolling out to players which will clean up all those unneeded quest items.
Now, as players receive questing items, they will automatically be applied to the quest. Extras will no longer hit your goft box and sit there until you remember whether or not it is safe to sell them off.
If you're worried about the 5 Farm Coin profit you were previously collecting from selling off extra items, you have nothing to fear. You will automatically get the value of the item (if any) added to your Farm Coin balance.
As this feature rolls out, you will be given 20,000 Farm Coins for the items that were already in your gift box. Not a bad deal!

FarmVille Candy Castle guide

FarmVille is slowly releasing the new Candy Castle to players on Tuesday afternoon.
The Candy Castle is a new, constructable building that works just like the Count Duckula Castle released last fall. The more parts you collect to build it up, the more candy you will collect. Candy will then be redeemed for prizes in an upcoming Giant Sundae feature. Yum!
There are six levels to build, all requiring Marshmallow Mortar, Gingerbread Siding and Chocolate Bricks. The first level of construction requires 16 of each part to complete.

Each level of construction you complete will earn you the ability to collect more candy each day. Level 1 gets you 1 piece, Level 2 gets you 2 and so on, up to a maximum of 6 pieces of candy per harvest for a fully constructed Candy Castle.
The castle frame is rather large, taking up four plots of land.
There's no word on the prizes we'll be redeeming for just yet, but we're pretty sure they will be worth our while.

FarmVille: Play Zynga Slingo for 3 free Mystery Darts

Zynga Slingo's promotional train has made a second stop in FarmVille this week (the first stop was Hidden Chronicles), as farmers are now being offered a chance at three free Mystery Darts simply for playing Zynga Slingo on Facebook.

Since Zynga Slingo is a bit different than other games, you won't be asked to play until you reach a specific level as in so many other cross-promotions. Instead, you'll be asked to play Zynga Slingo until you've earned 30 different Medals. There are five Medals up for grabs on each particular level, with these Medals being awarded after you've earned different amounts of points or have filled your Slingo Card completely.

Once you've earned the 30 Medals necessary for this promotion, you can simply jump back into FarmVille where you'll be rewarded three free Mystery Darts. These Darts are individually worth anywhere from 16 to 20 Farm Cash, and will practically guarantee that you receive three cool animals or decorations for your farms. If they work as other Game Darts do (we have no reason to think they won't), you'll even be able to save them up until the prizes in a particular week's Mystery Game really suit your style!

Conveniently enough, you also need to reach the 30 Medal mark to finish the Hidden Chronicles promotion, so if you've already made it that far, you won't have to do any extra work here. That will likely be the number to hit as these cross promotions roll out to other games, but we'll make sure to update you if you need to earn more or less. Stay tuned!

FarmVille: Earn a free Buckskin Mini Horse with the help of friends

While previously released Lonely Animals in FarmVille have been rather disappointing (as they're normally re-releases of animals many of us already have... in bulk), a new Lonely Animal has appeared on the outskirts of our farms that might actually be worth the effort to lure into our games.

A Buckskin Mini Horse is now available as a Lonely Animal, via the same process that you'd expect: You'll need to ask five friends to help you lure the scared animal into your game, and you'll only have a three day period to get it done. You can also purchase the Buckskin Mini Horse outright with Farm Cash, if you'd rather not wait for your friends to help you. Additionally, if you already have enough Lonely Animals to satisfy your needs or wants, you can ignore this poor pony altogether.

Either way, the clock's ticking on how long you have to bring this animal into your game, as you'll have just under three days as of this writing. Make sure to check out this horse and ask your friends to help you sooner, rather than later, before you miss your chance to add a free horse to your collection.

Earn 4 free FarmVille Farm Cash in American Express promotion

Unfortunately, the free FarmVille Farm Cash promotions have been rather few and far between over the past few weeks and months, but a great new promotion has launched today to make up for that. For a limited time, you can complete a promotion via American Express' serve and receive four free Farm Cash in the process.

Normally, promotions only offer two Farm Cash, so this is really like two promotions in one. To complete it, you'll need to look for the free Farm Cash bubble on the right side menu of the FarmVille gameplay area. The promotion itself asks you two poll questions and then allows you to instantly return back to your farm where your Farm Cash total should automatically update, reflecting your participation. If not, a simple refresh of your game should do the trick to set things right.

Unfortunately, this looks to be the only Farm Cash promotion available as of this writing, but we'll make sure to update this space if and when further promotions launch in the game. In the meantime, feel free to treat yourself to a few building materials or a cheap decoration in the game's store with your prize "money!"

FarmVille: Double Mastery on now for St. Patrick's Day

It's been a while since we've seen a Double Mastery event roll out across FarmVille's many farms, but this weekend ends the drought as Zynga has turned on Double Mastery for crops and trees this weekend.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like animals are a part of this Double Mastery event, but you'll still be able to earn double the mastery points on each individual tree and crop you harvest during this time period. Furthermore, you can feel free to stuff your Orchards, earning double the mastery points on those trees as well (that is, you can rotate trees out of your Orchards for 40 mastery points per Orchard, instead of 20).

Remember, this boost applies across all of your farms, and with Wither being currently disabled due to some nasty in-game bugs, you can feel free to plant some short growth-time crops that you might otherwise forget about in order to earn a huge mastery boost on them as well. The only players that won't be affected by this boost are those with permanent Double Mastery statues on their farms, as this boost will not stack. We imagine this Double Mastery event will end sometime Monday evening, so make sure to play as much as you can this weekend to make the most progress possible!

FarmVille Irish/Magic Show quest guide

FarmVille released nine new Irish/Magic Show quests to players on Thursday afternoon. These new quests can be performed on any of your farm spaces, and they reward players with all the usual goodies.

If you’re planning on participating in these quests, we suggest checking the list below to see what you should be planting. If you time things just right, you can make these quest tasks fly right by. Also, don’t harvest any animal pens you’ve got on your farms – many have required harvests for these quests. If they’re ready and waiting for you, it makes things go by MUCH faster.

Quest 1: Pinch me, I’m Irish

FarmVille meets Plants vs Zombies and the results are awesome

While FarmVille and Plants vs Zombies are individually two of the most popular games in their respective spaces, what would happen if the two were to suddenly cross paths? Well, the results are all kinds of awesome. Reddit user t-rev created a mashup of the two games within their FarmVille farm, and added some artwork from PopCap's popular strategy title to make things complete.

As you can see above, most of the FarmVille content was just careful placement of plowed (but empty) farm plots, along with sunflowers at the back. If you're not familiar with Plants vs Zombies, Sunflowers are used to earn Sun, which allows you to purchase your military units to fight off the zombie horde.

Could you recreate this within your own farm? Well, not exactly, as the actual plant weapons and zombie enemies were added after the fact, but this is one farm that's just so downright cool that we had to share it.

FarmVille Gnome Garden: Everything you need to know

Depending on how often you purchase gnomes in the FarmVille store, or how big your collection has grown simply from free quest rewards or item collection events, you may be incredibly excited (or incredibly underwhelmed) by the new building project released in FarmVille this week: The Gnome Garden. Similar to the many storage buildings released over the last few months, like animal storage buildings or mastery billboard signs, this Gnome Garden requires building materials to construct and can then be expanded to hold as many Gnomes as your collection currently contains.

For the most basic Gnome Garden, you'll need 36 items:

  • 12 Toadstools
  • 12 Tiny Windows
  • 12 Garden Fences
These items are earned by asking your friends to send them to you, or by purchasing them outright with Farm Cash for a single Farm Cash per individual ingredient. Once you've collected these items, you won't be able to store many Gnomes in your garden, but you can collect more and more materials to increase its capacity along the way.

Now, if you've purchased almost every gnome ever in existence, you might be reluctant to put them into storage. However, this is an incredibly cute gnome house, and if you're looking for a way to free up some land space around your farm(s), it's probably worth building at least one, even if you decide to keep some Gnomes out of storage for the foreseeable future.

FarmVille Vacation quests guide

FarmVille released nine new Vacation quests to players on Thursday afternoon. This time around, we’ll be helping Paul and Linda plan their perfect big trip.
These new quests are running alongside the current Hawaiian Paradise Chapter 2 quests and the Puppy Love quests. Players will have 14 days to complete these new tasks, and they can be performed on any of your farm spaces.
Some of the prizes are admittedly not the greatest (Farmhands. Really?), but it’s all worth it in the end for that free dart. We suggest looking ahead and making the most of your five farm spaces to have things ready for harvesting, as some of the required crops in this set are 1 day crops.

Finally, take a free vacay in FarmVille's Hawaiian Paradise now

FarmVille Hawaiian Paradise Launch
The time has come, digital crop dusters--wait, that's not right. Anyway, Zynga has officially opened the gates for all FarmVille players to the game's most recent expansion content, Hawaiian Paradise, FarmVille Freak reports. However, as goes with most major Zynga game updates, Hawaiian Paradise is slowly rolling out to players.

This means that, if you still don't have access to the content in-game, then the FarmVille team is still working on getting every player into the expansion. For fans of the game, this is reason enough to be excited. But more importantly, this announcement is reason enough to get prepared.

FarmVille Hawaiian Paradise: Chapter 2 quests guide

FarmVille is slowly releasing  free access to the Hawaiian Paradise farm expansion on Monday afternoon, and a new set of quests are coming along with it.
If you paid for early access to Hawaiian Paradise, this will actually be your second set of quests. If this is your first time visiting FarmVille’s Hawaiian Paradise, this is your first set.
Players will have 14 days to complete these tasks, and they should all be performed on your Hawaiian Paradise farm space.
Spoiler alert:The tasks and prizes for the FarmVille Hawaiian Island quests are below. If you’d rather not know the contents ahead of time, you should head over to my other FarmVille articles now.
In order to make your questing easier, we suggest collecting as many bushels as you can for the recipes and just make them in order – some of them can be pretty difficult to come across. For any animal harvesting, build some animal pens and take advantage of them. It makes your harvest wait time shorter in many instances, and you can get parts from your Special Delivery Boxes for them. We participated in the early access quests, and believe us, anything that saves time with these quests is a lifesaver.

Quest 1: Welcome to Hawaii
Your first quest will ask you to get 6 Tourist Maps from friends, harvest 10 Kelp crops and improve the Volcano Reef to level 2. Your rewards will be 125XP, 1 Spotted Eagle Ray and 1,000 Coconuts.
Quest 2: Lei Around
Your second quest will ask you to get 7 Welcome Leis from friends, harvest 45 Taro crops and harvest the Spotted Eagle Ray once. Your rewards will be 150XP, 1 Totem Pole and 1,000 Coconuts.

Quest 3: Tropical Reception
Your next quest will ask you to get 8 Tiny Umbrellas from friends, construct 1 Island Livestock Pen and craft the Poi recipe twice. Your rewards will be 175XP, 1 Fire Dancer Pig and 1,000 Coconuts.
Quest 4: Hawaiian Hello
Your next quest will ask you to get 8 Tropical Cups from friends, harvest 15 Kelp crops and harvest the Fire Dancer Pig once time. Your rewards will be 200XP, 1 Fire Dancer avatar costume, a Hula Girl costume and 1,000 Coconuts.
Quest 5: Shades of Fun
Your next quest will ask you to get 8 Pairs of Sunglasses from friends, harvest 20 Yellowfin Tuna and make the Seaweed Soup recipe twice. Your rewards will be 225XP, 1 Swordfish and 1,000 Coconuts.
Quest 6: Wear Sunscreen
Your next quest will ask you to get 8 Bottle of Sunscreen from friends, harvest 2 Aquariums and craft the Inamona recipe twice. Your rewards will be 250XP, 1 Sailboard Duck and 1,000 Coconuts.

Quest 9: A Walk in Paradise

FarmVille Hawaiian Paradise: Store your animals in themed habitats

While it may have taken a few months for FarmVille's Winter Wonderland to be completely outfitted with themed animal storage buildings - the Livestock Pen, Aviary and the like - the game's newest farm, Hawaiian Paradise, has them right from the beginning. What's more, you can add one of each to your newest farm for free, or just a single Coconut, leaving you with plenty of your new currency for other things!

To be specific, there are "Island" versions of the Aviary, Livestock Pen, Horse Paddock, Cow Pasture, Zoo, Pet Run and Wildlife Habitat available to purchase for your new island farm. Completing each is the same process you'd expect. You'll need to collect the same three building ingredients that you would for all other versions of that same building (so, in the case of the Aviary you would need to collect Clamps, Hinges and Screwdrivers, as one example), and will receive a free animal for completing each individual building.

You can expand these structures to hold more than the original 20 animal limit, by simply collecting more and more of those same building materials, so if you've been saving up after finishing things off elsewhere, you might be able to completely outfit your newest farm with a set of these buildings without doing much extra work. With so many Hawaiian-themed animals already being available to purchase in the store, along with the release of the new habitat in the Aquarium, it's likely they'll wind up full before you know it!

FarmVille Hawaiian Paradise: Chapter 1 quests guide

FarmVille has released early access to Hawaiian Paradise to players. The Hawaiian Paradise farm is the fifth farm expansion in the game, and players can pay 45 Farm Cash to access it before it is released to everyone. If you pay for early access, you’ll be presented with the 6 quests below. If you wait for free access to open for everyone, you WILL get quests, but they will be slightly different than these.
We strongly suggest you participate in these quests if you’ve paid for early access – the supplies you’ll receive as prizes will help you in the game.
If you need more info about FarmVille’s Hawaiian Paradise farm, you can find it here.
All of these tasks should be performed on your Hawaiian Paradise farm space, so be sure to place any animals/trees you earn on that land to avoid and quest progress mistakes.
